1. Why Do I need to be a first aider
All places of work and venues are regulated by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. They require you to have suitable first aid equipment and qualified persons on site to provide immediate help to any person who becomes ill or is injured whilst at the venue. The number of first aiders required will depend on the size of the venue and guidenace is given via the HSE website.
2. What level of first aid should I do?
The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 state that you should have First aiders who have a ‘Current’ certificate in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or First Aid at Work (FAW). Guidance as to the number of first aiders who need to be actually qualified and at work can be found via the HSE website.
3. Why should I do a mental Health First Aid course (MHFA)?
Please follow my link on the ‘Why choose Mental Health First Aid?’ on the courses information page.
4. Can I do online courses only?
Yes distance learning courses are called e-learning. I am affiliated to ProTrainings UK and have attached various links you can purchase in a wide variety of skills on my courses information page. If you need any further assistance with this, please contact me for guidance.
5. How long are certificates valid for?
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is valid for 3 years and consists of a minimum of 6hrs exposure of teaching time. This can be delivered at 1 day or over 2 days of 3 hrs each session. The First Aid at Work (FAW) is also valid for 3 years and consists of a minimum of 18 hours exposure of teaching time. This can be delivered over 3 days or over 6 sessions of 3 hours. These do not have to be consecutive days, for example 3 consecutive Saturdays, but I feel to maximise on learner’s experience, to extend beyond that more time has to be spent revisiting previous sessions.
